Farnell, an Avnet company, is a global high-service distributor of technology products, services and solutions for electronic system design, maintenance and repair.

Our distribution team is recruiting for the position of Control Room Operator, based in our Distribution Centre in Leeds 15, just off Junction 45 of the M1 motorway.Β 

This role is essential in helping to monitor and manage the flow of products and people linked to our automated systems and processes within picking, packing, shipping, receiving, order fulfilment, stock handling, storage, distribution, and inventory support.

We are looking for someone who is attentive to detail and comfortable working across teams to ensure we provide high-quality, cost-effective, and efficient services to meet our customers' current and future demands.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing and monitoring the workflow through the use of the Lighthouse system

  • Visually monitoring the belt and being first point of call for escalations for faults on conveyor and/or navette.

  • Problem solving general queries and prioritising importance

  • Maintaining and updating systems as required i.e system access and resets

  • Preparing and reporting on KPIs

  • Communicating with internal and and 3rd party providers

  • Other duties as assigned.


Job Level Specifications:

  • Applies working knowledge of the organisation, job, practices and procedures to be proficient in all aspects of the job and software packages i.e excel, WAMAS, Orbit

  • Performs functions semi-routine in nature and recognizes the need for occasional alternative solutions.

  • Able to work independently, with minimal supervision to establish priorities and manage time to complete work.

  • Collaborates well with other departments or teams that may be required to perform the role. May frequently respond to requests from others, internally or externally.

  • Understand that decisions may affect the department. Errors may result in loss of time, resources and/or customer satisfaction.
