Job Description Summary:

This role will support and assist the Control Centre Manager with the supervision and training and development requirements of the Control Centre team as well as participate in projects.

This role will continue to be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our wind assets installed throughout the UK, as well as the safety of the in-house and external workers who operate and maintain the wind turbines and associated plant.

This is a full time position, working a rotating shift pattern. Covering the core hours required for the role which are currently between 07:00 – 21:00 Monday to Friday and 08:00 – 16:00 on weekends.

Job Description:

Key Responsabilities

Wind Asset Monitoring and Operational Control

  • Using the telephone and specialist software to ensure all visitors to site are booked on and off site, whilst ensuring any essential information is communicated clearly and effectively to them
  • Monitoring wind farms via a variety of SCADA systems, and ensuring the appropriate response is delivered to faults and alarms
  • Monitoring current and forecasted weather conditions taking care to alert stakeholders as appropriate in the case of adverse weather
  • Maintain up-to-date Wind Turbine Safety Rules documentation and work control records
  • Support configuration control by logging all incoming Engineering Change Requests, and ensuring no unauthorised plant modifications are carried out
  • Manage day-to-day work control performing the role of Operational Controller under the Wind Turbine Safety Rules

Performance Analysis and Reporting

  • Summarise operational performance throughout the day reporting wind asset status
  • Tracking and reporting on key operational KPIs, allowing benchmarking of the various turbine OEMs
  • Analysing and reporting on wind asset performance, highlighting recurrent trends and issues
  • Analysing wind turbine power performance, with deviations from the warranted power curve being escalated

Commercial Analysis and Processing

  • Remote retrieval and analysis of energy export metering data
  • Processing and submission of Renewable Obligation Certificate (ROC) claims

Health Safety Quality and Environment

  • Handle and respond to emergency calls from wind farm personnel and members of the public
  • Act as first point of contact for any health and safety related near misses or incidents on site, escalating and reporting on these matters as required

Continuous improvement and training & development

  • Assist the control centre manager with the allocation of analysis activities and tasks to other members of the control centre team, both specific and recurring projects and tasks
  • Assist the control centre manager with the training and development of the control centre team, to include the training and development of new starters and the ongoing training and development of existing team members
  • Creation of new and ongoing development of existing control centre procedures, to improve the efficiency of the Operational Control function of the control centre
  • Provide supervision to the control centre team and assist with the shift rota to ensure the control centre has sufficient resource at all times
  • Work with the Business Information & Data Analyst to improve the efficiency of current and develop reporting functions within the business
  • Assist with management of control centre service / supplier contracts to include but not limited to Natural Power, Greenbyte, Meteorage and Meteologica 

Projects 

  • Participate in life extension and performance improvement initiatives meetings with the engineering team
  • Work with the Asset Performance Engineer to improve monthly power curve checking process and develop new methodologies and tools to analyse and report on wind asset performance
  • •Attend and participate in meetings and forums with stakeholders, such as National Grid OC2, DNO/TSO
